Chris Andrews

Oakland, California-based architect Chris Andrews makes buildings and other kinds of habitable structure. At the same time, he pursues a deep interest designing carpets – an interest developed in part through having studied color and geometry in old Anatolian carpets with Christopher Alexander at Berkeley. In this interview, Chris talks about his working methods, and what differentiates a carpet that’s merely nice to look at from an example that’s made the timeless way.
